The Kashi Vishawanath Temple : The temple is also known as the Golden Temple. The temple has earned its name due to the gold plating done which is donated by Maharaja Ranjit singh. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Invaders destroyed the original temple and is rebuilt by Rani Ahilyabai in the year 1776.This temple was again destroyed by the fanatic Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb to replace it with Gaynvapi Mosque. Today, the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and the Gyanvapi mosque lie adjacent to each other.


Bharat Kala Bhavan:- It was established in 1950, is an archeological museum situated within the extensive grounds of Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi.I t is among the oldest educational institutes of India which is founded by Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya. It displays various archaeological materials, Mughal miniature ,paintings , sculptures, bronze images, terracotta, beads and jewelry. Painting section includes Rajasthani, Mughal, Pahari folk, contemporary and miniature varieties. The textile section features the most inspiring collection of Banaras silks and brocades. Its timing are from 10.30 A.M to 4.30 P.M


Sarnath:- This famous Budhist pilgrimage is about 10 km from the holy city of Varanasi .It is the place where Buddha chose to deliver his first sermon. The celebrated Mantra, 'Buddham Sharanam Gachhami', owes its origin to Sarnath. This place is also connected with Jainism.


Sankat Mochan:- The Sankat Mochan literally means “deliever from troubles”. The temple is located on the Durga Kund Road, This temple is believed to have been built by Tulsidas, a saint poet. The presiding The Sankat Mochan Music Festival is celebrated here to mark the birth of Lord Hanuman.


New Kashi Vishwanath Temple:- This temple is situated in the premises of Banaras Hindu University, a modern place of worship planned by Pandit Malviya . It is built by Birlas.


Assi Ghat:- Assi Ghat is one of the bathing ghats in Varanasi, which is situated at the meeting point of the Ganges and the Assi rivers. This ghat is associated with goddess Durga. This ghat comes under the group of the five special ghats which pilgrims are supposed to bathe in, during the ritual route called " Panchatirthi Yatra" ending in the Adikeshva ghat in the north.


Assisangameshwar Temple:- This is a Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies The only institute of its kind in the world, imparting education in the Tibetan language. This institute was established by Dalai Lama in 1971.

Banaras Hindu University: -The Banaras Hindu University was established in 1916 by Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya. Today it is one of the biggest and renowned universities of India.

Kashi Vidya Peeth: - The Kashi Vidyapeeth was set up in 1920 by Babu Shiv Prasad Gupta to provide alternate education. It is now a centre of Natoinal Education with Hindi as the medium of instruction. Acharya Narendradev, Babu Sampurnanand, Babu Sriprakash & many more Luminaries of the time have been associated with this institute.

Dasaswamedh (Dashashwamedha) Ghat:- This ghat offers a splendid view of the river front. The name indicates that Brahma sacrificed 10 horses here. It is also most popular site for Hindus to perform ancestor worship rituals.

Gyanvapi Mosque : The Gyanvapi Mosque was raised by Auranzeb near the present Vishawanath Temple or the Golden Temple.

Tulsi Manas Temple : Tulsi Manas Temple is situated adjacent to the Durga Temple, in Varanasi. This temple is built in Shikhara style. The temple is built in 1964 by a philanthropist family and is dedicated toLord Ram.

Durga Temple : Commanly called the 'Monkey Temple', it was built in the 18th century. Although it is one of the best known temples, it is open only to Hindus.

Ram Nagar Fort And Museum : It is fort built in 17th-century is a home of Maharaja of Banaras, who is revered as the representative of Shiva in the city. It is now converted to a museum . It is famous for its Ral Lila.
