As the name suggests the Tulsi Ghat in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India is kept after the renowned Hindu poet Tulsidas of the 16th century. It gives you the insight picture of Hindu mythology and as a result Ramcharitmanas was composed by Tulsi Das by sitting in the region of Tulsi Ghat positioned at Varanasi. Even it is also alleged that when the manuscript written by Tulsi Das fell into the River Ganga, it kept on floating instead of sinking. Amazingly, it is also supposed that the Ramlila was originally staged here and as apiece of commemoration, the temples of Lord Ram were also constructed on the pious Tulsi Ghat. A lot of the remnants of Tulsi Das are potted here and the home where he died has been sealed together with some of his belongings such as wooden clogs, pillow, his samadhi, and the idol of Hanuman, all are kept here fully safe and sound.
In addition to what is mentioned above, we also get to know that in the times of yore Tulsi Ghat was prominent as Lolark Ghat (mentioned in Gaharwa Danpatra and Girvanapadamanjari) and later became illustrious by this in 1941 when the then eminent industrialist, Baldeo Das Birla cemented it. Tulsi Ghat is connected with innumerable vital activities for instance bathe of Lolarkkunda (to be blessed with sons and their long life) and the holy bath to dispose of leprosy. To conclude, Tulsi Ghat is also famous as a focal point of carrying out various cultural activities especially those which take place during Kartika (Oct/Nov) according to Hindu lunar month.
