Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh India has its name mentioned in the great epic of Ramayana and Mahabharata. It is also known as Benaras or Banaras or Kashi and was otherwise an old city when Rome in Italy was established. The history of Varanasi is extremely attention-grabbing and states that it was a thriving commercial center of trade when about 10kms away, Buddha visited Sarnath to sermonize his sermon in 500 B.C.
Varanasi is a city of pious places of worship and over 2,500 years, it has fascinated devotees from far or near places which are bowled over by its daintiness and wholesomeness. It is also whispered that indus consider this holy city of Banaras or Benaras as it is the cosmic center of the Universe. Above and beyond, the celebrated American novelist Mark Twain also once wrote, “Banaras is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend and looks twice as old as all of them put together.”
Nonetheless, down the ages, the sacred place of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, India has appeared as an epitome of Hindu resurgence. Enfolded in an aura of religion, tradition, and history, Banaras potted the time-honored traditions and rituals of Hindu philosophy. From a time extending ahead of human memory, disciples from far-away destinations have come to Benaras or Banaras or Varanasi in exploration of heavenly blessings.
