The Banaras Hindu University or BHU is a globally recognized University in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. The foundation of this highly remarkable educational institute was kept by the then great nationalist leader namely Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, in the year 1916. Even the credit of its formation in such a brilliant way should also be given to Dr. Annie Besant of the BHU. Moreover, very few people know that Banaras Hindu University Varanasi also contributed in a great way in the struggle period of Indian independence and thus gave birth to scores of freedom fighters to celebrated scholars along with various scientists and artists. However, with the passage of time, this University emerged as an unbeatable learning center in India. You will be flabbergasted to see its strikingly sprawling campus, straddling from corner to corner 1300 acres together with well preserved roads, sprawled vegetation, compositions, a place of worship, and a runway which are an architectural amusement. The BHU also underscores another campus, located at Barkachha, in Mirzapur region, covering the total district of 2700 acres. Moreover, it contains 3 Institutes, 14 Faculties, 124 Departments, 4 Interdisciplinary Centers and 3 Constituent Schools, straddling a huge range of subjects related to all branches of science, technology, humanities, medicine, social sciences, performing arts and fine arts.
More to the point, BHU also has 6 centers of higher studies, 10 Departments under Special Assistance Program and a great deal of particular Research Centers. Around four Degree Colleges of Varanasi city are affiliated to this University. It showcases its Bharat Kala Bhavan, which are an art and archaeological museum plus a medical college and an engineering institute. Sir Sundar Lal Hospital with the ability of 927 beds is stocked with all the up-to-the-minute services and accordingly provides to the medical wants of large people. The University also takes interest in providing a strong sports infrastructure such as flying club, outsized playgrounds, a giant auditorium, and a lot of supplementary services and utilities. For example Publication Cell, Fruit Preservation Center, Printing Press, sponsored Canteens, Security, Employment and information Bureau, etc.
Nonetheless, the Banaras Hindu University Varanasi includes a proportions of 15000 students, coming from different streams, backgrounds, casts, creed, races and religions. Around 2000 teachers with almost 5000 non-teaching staff is also employed here. Finally, another important feature of this exceptional BHU is that not only the Indian students but bulk of students from foreign countries also prefer coming here from the countries like Europe, Asia, U.S.A., Africa, Middle East, etc.
